The Busy Gal's Guide to Stunning Holiday Looks

You’ve got six parties, gift shopping, and house cleaning to shove in between work and chores. Kids are screaming for new toys. The boss is grumbling about everyone growing lazy during the holidays. Now, your parents called you and decided that they’re long overdue for a visit and now you have to figure out where they’ll be sleeping. What about how you’ll manage even more food preparation?! Peachy! With all this rush and all this juggling, you barely got any time left for yourself. Well, you know what, that sucks, and we’re here for you.
Christmas or New Year's Eve is the time for every woman to feel beautiful, and you’re no exception. Just for the busy, amazing ladies who work too much, we’ve got a few quick, handy tips that will let you bring the glam even when you’re totally short on time.

The hypnotizing glow of your skin

The best way to look mesmerizing for the holidays is to have your skin look fresh, glowy, and healthy. To do this, you want to do a thorough exfoliation of your face and neck, and then apply a sheet mask, or a DIY Greek yogurt mask that will nourish the skin. Good skin is really all about consistency, so be regular about skin care in the morning and in the evening, and use this little trick to get rid of under-eye bags: put a couple of used green tea bags in the fridge for about fifteen minutes, then lie down, close your eyes, and put the bags on your under-eye area. The coolness and green tea will reduce the swelling and give you a brighter appearance. Another great trick for luminous, soft skin is to start using a vitamin C serum. This adds only a minute to your skincare routine, but it makes a huge difference.

Lush, voluminous hair

No time to see a hair stylist? No big deal, just wash your hair the way you usually do, and after it’s dry, curl it into little bantu knots, or use regular cloth curls. Leave this over night, then loosen them before the party and run your fingers through them gently to get more natural curls. Put hairspray on and you’re done! You can also use a root-boosting spray to add even more volume.

Soft, pretty hands

Another overnight trick: take plain old Vaseline (or your favourite hand cream) and apply a very thick layer all over your hands. Pull on a pair of cotton gloves carefully and just let it sit. When you wake up in the morning your hands will be incredibly velvety and beautiful, and all you’ll need is some fun, colorful nail polish to be ready!

Makeup that lasts all night

Smudgy, runny makeup is nobody’s idea of a fun time, so you want to take certain steps to make sure it stays in place. First, you’ll need a good primer. Pick something like Pola Silfique primer and rub it into your skin gently before you apply foundation. This will help makeup go on smoothly and last longer. After you’re done with foundation, use the baking technique (you can focus just on the under eye area if you prefer) with something like Laura Mercier’s Translucent Powder. Finish it all off with a setting spray (Urban Decay’s All Nighter is a cult classic) and you’re good to go.

Easy eye look

Eye makeup doesn’t have to be complicated and take forever to look good. Here’s what to do: Apply some eye primer to set up a good base that will make the shadows last longer. Then use a blending brush to apply a matte shade, soft brown always works well, into your crease with wind-wiper motions. Dab a shimmery or metallic color on the middle of your lid with a flat synthetic brush or your fingers. Apply mascara and you’re done! It can seriously be as easy as that. Glam fashion

If you’re bored of your little black dress every year, try this stunning combo: pick a bodycon sweater dress in a bright red color, and pair it with some gorgeous, leather, over-the-knee boots that will give your look that stylish edginess. Throw a blazer over this for a family dinner, and take it off as soon as you’re ready for a cocktail party with your friends.
Holidays are such a silly mix of both wonderful moments and stressful atmosphere, so it’s important not to let the chaos prevent you from enjoying yourself. Follow these little beauty tips, look fantastic, and remember to relax and have fun!
xoxo.
